Almudena Romero
Born in Madrid in 1986, and now based in London, Almudena Romero is a visual artist working mostly with organic matter. Developing a unique approach, more respectful of the environment, the photographer uses the qualities intrinsic to plants – their exposure to light specifically – to explore the notion of progress in the photographic world and question our relationship with nature. Her body of work, which won the 2020 BMW Residence was exhibited internationally: at the Victoria and Albert Museum and TATE (United Kingdom), at the Centquatre and Rencontres d’Arles (France), in Unseen Amsterdam (Netherlands). It was also honoured by several private foundations, such as the Richard and Siobhán Coward Foundation and the Harnisch Foundation.
